There are times when our choices seem fewer and our path forward less clear. During these times, enlisting the help and support of others can be a game changer. Even when our world may be feeling smaller, we often recognize a desire for more freedom; the freedom that comes from creating the kind of life we truly want to live.
The desire for such freedom comes with an invitation to make some important shifts. As we grow in self-awareness, we get clearer about what’s holding us back and create a new space for future possibilities to take shape – this is important work!
The challenge of difficult times has always been the impetus for human beings to grow and change. I can support you to build something new and more consistent with how you really want to live. Together, we can explore and develop new tools on the road to greater freedom; freedom where you can choose something different for yourself and your life.

I focus on developing new behaviour patterns which support you to be more present, engaged, and content with yourself and with the people who matter most in your life. Together we’ll explore your vision for the future and activate the energy to begin to do things differently.
I’ll help you build new skills to work with the challenging emotions that are often at the root of our struggles. This shift to more helpful thinking and behaviour patterns will build resiliency to deal with future challenges. I draw from my experiences with meditation, mindfulness-based counseling, life coaching and other therapeutic approaches. I continue to benefit personally from mindfulness & compassion skills and am enthusiastic about sharing them with you.
As a spouse of many years and mother of two young adults, I understand the challenges in building healthy relationships. I provide a place of trust, respect and positive communication allowing you the opportunity to understand your feelings and learn to connect more deeply with yourself and your life.

The Ontario Government proclaimed the College of Registered Psychotherapists in 2015 and, since that time, Registered Psychotherapists (RPs) have been working with insurance providers to extend health benefits to cover Registered Psychotherapists. Many insurance companies cover RP services and others are willing and able to add Registered Psychotherapists to their customer’s policies. If you have benefits and would like to seek coverage for my services, you may choose to have a discussion with your employer about including Registered Psychotherapists in your Benefit Plan if they are not already covered.

For me, one of the best parts of therapy is the creative collaboration; where we respond to what’s happening right now in your life and use your own life experience and inner wisdom to learn how to do things differently.
Additionally, I view the body as an important guide and tool for therapy. I’m also passionate about supporting you through significant life transitions and working with these as pathways to healing and recovery.

When I’m not counselling others, I pursue my interests and do the things I love. This means getting outside as much as possible where I enjoy gardening, hiking, cycling, camping and spending time in nature. My other pursuits include singing, cross-country skiing, meditation, playing the guitar, creating new recipes in the kitchen and getting out for some live music. Whatever the season, spending time with family & friends has a spot near the top of my “to do list.”

One more thing…
One of my favourite quotes is by Joseph Campbell who said “I don’t believe people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive”. We often struggle because of our old patterns and beliefs. Behaviour patterns, thinking patterns, relationship & communication patterns and limiting beliefs can all get in the way of us “feeling alive.” They lock us into ways of being which prevent us from being open to the life and the people around us. As we work together to change these unhelpful habitual patterns and beliefs, we’re freer to experience life rather than react based on the past. We’re freer to create the life we truly want for ourselves.
