Welcome, I’m Katie
Overwhelmed? Stressed out trying to balance family, work, and self-care? Perhaps memories from past hurts are affecting your present-day relationships? Lost, lacking motivation, and uncertain of what to do about it? Trauma haunting you?
I love working with people who, like you, are facing challenges in life and took the brave step of inviting a therapist to journey with them. We can all cope in isolation with our stressful lives for a limited period of time, before realizing we need help. I’m glad you are here.
Let’s work together and identify the source of your struggles and resolve them. Along the way, we’ll get to know much more about you: what makes you tick, you’re passions and where your vulnerabilities lie, which is your true strength.
“You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.” Robin Williams
Much of my own healing has been done in therapists’ offices. I’ve found the experience to be invaluable. At times I’ve needed someone to listen with unconditional acceptance of me and my story; at other times I’ve needed deeper exploration and analysis of painful life experiences; and occasionally I’ve needed some practical help with making changes.
When you begin therapy with me, we’ll spend some time identifying your goals for therapy and figuring out, together, how I can best help you. We will re-evaluate your goals regularly as you grow and learn more about yourself through the therapy process.
I have lots of training in psychotherapy, trauma, EMDR, and Traumatic Incident Reduction. I take a special interest in treating trauma.

Outside of providing therapy, I love spending time with my young child, who’s genuinely the funniest person I know. Parenting isn’t easy, so I try my best to hang onto the laughs and silliness. We have a small menagerie of pets at home who keep life interesting (you may inadvertently meet one of them during a session as I often work from my home office!). I love to sing, although according to my child singing is “not my strength”, and I love to crochet while binge-watching Netflix. Blankets and scarves are my specialties as they can be made with minimal attention to detail and are very hard to mess up.
Last thing to know….
This is something a wise nun once told me (true story). We were speaking about the origins of shame, and she recounted the tale of Adam and Eve and the “original sin.”
Long story short, she reminded me that we’re all born perfect. As a baby, you were born just as you were meant to be; innocent, trusting, and with a heart that’s ready to love and be loved.
Painful emotions such as embarrassment, guilt, and shame are something we learn to feel and, too often, internalize. If they’re learned, they can be “unlearned.” They don’t have to be a permanent state of being. Let’s learn to love ourselves as much as we would love a newborn baby – it can be done and I can help!
